I know this year in review is a bit late, but I’m easing myself back into this little space on the internet, and I thought a year in review would be a good place to start. We did a lot in 2023, so I’ll just summarise the highlights in this post, then maybe go into more detail in individual posts. So off we go…</div><div><br></div><h3>Disneyland Paris</h3><div><img id="id_1572_27a0_3ece_f1ab" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYRahzp8Y3ruo5baMEJ9tbkKFKdsSDGa4CTPzgNgeNKDGmSUtDryECm09r1MjQNA-H-uHkE_wwO8ZtzLMl-mjIjR8FIaag" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_8b85_f3f3_8a36_8ff4" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYT1GBsmZJ3ni7RBYTVduNGAwWK5r0ojCJPj_C-7qMob4v_30CMiHtoGbII05d-SKIBp8fRTh3zhzqlWAidsQf9M1f_Q0w" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_a17_5de5_225b_717b" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AEYmBYStlbTXytP-gAIMyP4PeGTs_Q6dL0vk7Cqw9H7NLM7F_9H3n2qLAUfr14e2BznmEVoxj7WqAcc2IT8BLdIcf1d8GnLN" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br><br>We started off the year with a trip to Disneyland Paris to catch the 30th anniversary celebrations, and I am so glad we did. For us, we knew we wanted to get married in the Spring, but what we didn’t know was that peak wedding season starts in April for some venues, so we’d pay as much for an April wedding as we would for an August wedding! Luckily, we’ve found a venue who’s prices didn’t jump up too much, but I’m getting ahead of myself.</div><div><br /></div><div><img alt="" id="id_2fa0_28b8_d926_eb32" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81pXy_dNRCbuIH7TLnRLo9qJTClYPL_W1yrFe6_23Si0Xws5sypCsAM3D1P36VRpjRNe42XeLs678dwrrk5vIJuTTlTGfw" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_de03_1e66_bd49_b5f1" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81p46G24_WWV1Yuc5BLURs2Bw9AtqAFsDtWlaZgqnfvSPOQq9MeZSMi6bBxgywGJsTPg25c1xum78xJBk5DNPH52IXss" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_7318_9e75_481b_ca44" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81r9jNQnq4hpuvY1JWvphXsJyOgy8xRcKlAjVI_C-fOuMSH4wK8-sGH-SeLeY13KyeME9oZHnu6QoyVLrAHMsLuC2lTH" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><h2>Venue Viewing and Wedding Fairs</h2></div><div><br /></div><div>Next came the viewings. We looked at a few places; some were very expensive, and some were lovely but not the one for us, but we did eventually pick one (though we did have to visit a few times to actually see it dressed as a wedding venue). A good tip is to decide whether what the venue includes is worth it for you. </div><div><br /></div><div>There were some venues that were gorgeous but didn’t include enough of what we wanted in the price. In the end I think we looked at 4 or 5 venues before picking ours.</div><div><br /></div><div>One of the most fun things about getting married is wedding fairs. We’ve been to three and I loved them all; we actually found our cake provider and an extra vendor at wedding fairs, and one of the wedding fairs we went to actually gave us free cocktails!</div><div><br /></div><div><img alt="" id="id_3dc8_4033_946b_79b" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81o2bh2smCA2Ctp2XTCV-d30E7_IR1R7TCYOcLmlb8iIGtKhfoaULF0iDw9z4e7MTQ-U4vu8sisfckOmTtT6JKVSDMZ5" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><br />Our venue includes a package, so it’s a huge weight off our shoulders, and we are really happy with it. Our next steps in terms of the venue now are speaking to the venue dresser, which is exciting as we will start to see our wedding come together.</div><div><br /></div><div>And that’s all for now. I think I’ll make this into a monthly series, because there are a few things that we already have sorted, and we still have a few months before the next big things (read: the food) need to be done, so it’ll be a fun little catch-up to where we are up to.</div><div><br /></div><div>Nic</div><div>xx<br /><br /></div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-87343637385771029482023-06-15T18:54:00.001+01:002023-06-15T18:55:22.010+01:00My First Time: Disneyland<img alt="" id="id_3656_3131_3486_72d9" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81oRJLGziQSLyEIabzrg8fVhHKfrBYxyPGBC_Dr2bZN-vJXGDiv75IYsb9sYHx6OZhS9zkzK_rP3AiBIST35vqNrC3AmtA" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_d446_4399_707_6e8c" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81riMwAASAxUF5CVnn1UGpsAdlwOmhP2Mx5N8hpaNCDn8zEXUuvd8eQo076vV_1Tjx_RV8J6_NCTXA685hk3_rMOiDJQ" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><h2>The Happiest Place on Earth</h2><div><br /></div><div>In June 2022, Sam and I were on our big Walt Disney World holiday. We had booked everything way before, and we were also supposed to be going on our first ever Disney cruise on the Wish. However, the Wish had been delayed, meaning we had a spare few days. We could’ve spent these days at the WDW parks, but I had an idea: let’s fly to the other side of the USA and visit Disneyland for a few days! It was the most extra thing I’d ever done, and let me tell you, we didn’t regret it one bit.</div><div><br /></div><div>It’s cliche to say, but Disneyland really does hold a special kind of magic that the other parks don’t; maybe it’s because it was the original, maybe it’s because it’s the only park Walt ever visited, it really was something else.</div><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_bb23_51c8_8d48_10f4" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81pwU7YdAP8qMiFRaQk6JiyyZzVAQ-ODZeEtBBoHpfkeZQRLseGiXXLsO6JnkovHsGPyENZgXmykjHBT7-O4sMAYqsgy" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_a276_cb43_7011_93d4" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81qCvUre0OTF3z5Vk4FgO-gwWg60ysQ6DcX8IYYny7jgdXsGDzQIk9If8KGXuW9hmDCC5xBVjMwag_ito-VjjyU51Ykfjg" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_1c37_3eb5_ee3a_f2f1" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81qiuMrKSkPn3Qstmfji9L3t4OsBWpywR7dn7J2FXlcfkB2ECaTMbVhQPVy6Dz7SRCgjq9ZokXwry9kq6cFPBUqmTfu4" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_bc3c_dc75_74ee_2c6b" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81qhSOhPTo0YxbIUr7x6Vwj9NIY1hZgdom6XXftQnPRgZpentBF-en7yj7akUv3Dm40riIbgns19PW1B_hltHM4lUs2PVA" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_eb13_fc23_b8ec_5143" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81rb-W-F9XiTtcuYMP5URgSrfpVJZIxecLahQ-4UxPJQS09PXYDSGXAx1kln0hFcwDsXzO7_z1_NoE1tALoe5_jPCTnh" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_e87_f703_903e_defb" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81o1_yZk4lVpLey0XsF7AfpDjQTCKzvXvhtu2gSpvGKDpAzdeEl8bRGUC-qfFP7o9RutduFRsbnTsk4hE1pEK4VRAY_kKw" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /><img alt="" id="id_a1d3_a3d9_fb05_778e" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/drive-viewer/AFGJ81oghoEh-JwGAEVWQ1U8amha1caNGN_UmAHcQRQJ_k3qayRL3ZGk3RsAlADwyC2oTwvW0QrKJVmKLhwidf8uH3ZX5E3Cqg" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);"><br /></span></div><div><span style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);">We flew to LAX and got an Uber to our hotel- a little hotel nearby that wasn’t really anything to write home about, where we stored our case and walked to the parks. It was delicious and the perfect way to start three days of magic; where we rode some classic attractions, saw the Dapper Dans, met Redd from Pirates of the Caribbean (!), saw Avengers Campus and West Coast Batuu, and soaked up all the magic Disneyland had to offer. Jet lag had hit us hard so we got up at 5am and went for a walk around the resort we were staying in, Pop Century.</div><div><br></div><div>As we were staying in a Disney Resort, we got extra magic time in the parks, and we decided to head to Magic Kingdom after breakfast to see the castle decorated in its 50th best. So we got on the Disney bus to MK.</div><div><br></div><div>When we got to Main Street USA, my favourite part of the park, we saw a photopass photographer with a short wait. Because it wasn’t very busy in the park yet, Sam told me to go and have some photos by myself first, and because I never turn down a chance of getting good photos for Instagram, I went ahead and did so.</div><div><br></div><div>After I’d had a few pictures, Sam came to join me for a picture together, and that’s when he got down on one knee. I burst into tears and of course said yes straight away, whilst the photopass photographer snapped away and the other guests on Main Street cheered and congratulated us! </div><div><br></div><div>Unbeknownst to me, Sam had also asked the family behind us to take pictures for us, and they also videoed the whole thing, so we had personal photos as well as the Disney ones, which made it even more special. We then went and took some more photos at the castle, got celebration buttons from the Emporium, and celebrated by going on the teacups.</div><div><br></div><div>This is the story of how Sam and I got engaged, and the fact that it happened on Main Street USA with the AM loop on in the background was perfect.</div><div><br></div><div>We spent the rest of our holiday (except the second day, which was all about Sam’s 30th) getting photopass engagement pictures in every park, and even got more celebration buttons from Disneyland to top it off.</div><div><br></div><div>Stay tuned for more wedding content over here, we have an exciting year ahead.</div><div><br></div><div>Nic</div><div>xx</div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-41513201258186307222022-12-31T13:28:00.000+00:002022-12-31T13:28:13.212+00:00Reflecting on 2022<img id="id_b7ee_b65f_9815_7722" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/N22J5oXywm__BoWzUoSW1Rysl46CynVu2VVqjYvCN4PWWWWbgccn7hWgWeHnf4-7zg8" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br><br> <div>As we head into the last few hours of 2022, and as many (if not all) people are doing their yearly round ups on blogs, TikTok and Instagram, I wanted to throw my round up hat into the ring. Because 2022 has been quite the year. </div><div><br></div><div>January and February were much the same as any other year, where we all wait for the cold to end and hibernate. We took our annual trip to Chinatown for their Lunar New Year celebrations, and I read a lot. Then came the Spring. I spent the beginning of the Spring cherry blossom tree hunting as I always do, and we spent Easter with Sam’s parents, during which time we went to the seaside, which made me very happy indeed. Oh, and we went for afternoon tea for my birthday (and booked a Disney cruise for 2023).</div><div><br></div><div>Summer was where the year got exciting. We took our long-awaited holiday to Walt Disney World for Sam’s 30th, and on our first day there, Sam proposed to me on Main Street USA, which, if you know me, you’ll know that that was the perfect place at Disney to ask me, there’s just something about Main Street, y’know?</div><div><br></div><div>We spent Sam’s actual birthday in Galaxy’s Edge, and he built a lightsaber, which made him very happy, and we went on the Disney Skyliner, which made me very happy.</div><div><br></div><div>Also during this trip, we went to Disneyland for three days! My first time to California couldn’t have been more perfect, and it’s definitely a place we will be returning to.</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_cb50_895_ccde_7138" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/NZ8Gv8hIMua40ZjHnyII9ftBj7VFOHVqDYfFxpe-i_3QIUgMUzYbUTi8-KsfrZ0cWb0" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br><br>After our USA jaunt, you’d think the rest of the Summer would’ve been quiet, but you’d be wrong. We had another Brighton day, this time with Cara & Tin, where we visited Artbox Cafe, which was Sanrio themed, and spent some much-needed quality time together. Then August came, and with it, the Pokémon World Championships in London. Sam and I decided about three days before that we were going to go, and we are glad we did so, as it was so much fun! </div><div><br></div><div>Autumn was all-things wedding, with us attending two weddings, a hen do, numerous wedding fairs and venue viewings, and us booking our wedding!! I also went pumpkin picking with Sammy, Rachel and Jade which was a wholesome day, and we went to MCM Comic Con in London. We also took a trip to Cornwall for Megan and Simon’s wedding bash.</div><div><br></div><div>Then we arrived at the busiest month of the year, December. I had my work Christmas party, two secret Santa nights, and three Christmas days (one with my family, and two with Sam’s family). We finished off the year by browsing in the sales and booking a trip to Disneyland Paris for 2023.</div><div><br></div><div>So here’s to 2023, let’s hope it’ll be as good as this year has been.</div><div><br></div><div><img id="id_d61f_31cc_b73f_610b" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/RObN-OpxHkbTXb2WfYrK4DwWezZIGg2xXaJPhTavzh6O3n4ixs6BbE2v0c4oQbPpNCw" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 353px; height: auto;"><br></div><div><br></div><div>Nic</div><div>xx</div><div><br></div><div><br></div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-62326874672156743712022-10-02T16:13:00.004+01:002022-10-02T16:13:58.519+01:00Returning to Blogging<img alt="" id="id_17a_9e4f_1f41_6789" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/eKcnygdRPeTxB1FcWvO2xnEc40DEPFSOY3XEGpIDR8YDSed_B5mrnQYay_oLFpbTU_s" style="height: auto; width: 353px;" title="" tooltip="" /><br /><br /> <div>Lately I have been feeling the pull to start blogging again, so I guess it’s time to give it a go.</div><div><br /></div><div>So, what’s been going on since the last time we spoke? I saw so many people reading 50, 75, even over 100 books last year, which is amazing. And as this situation doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon, I think the same will be said for this year.<div><br></div><div>I have, as ever, set my Goodreads challenge at 50 this year, but this year, after having a huge reading slump in 2020, I’m changing up the way I read. In the past, I have been a nightmare for reading multiple books at once. Sometimes it has worked for me, but last year it led to a major book burnout. So this year I’m reading one book at a time to keep me more focused.</div><div><br></div><div>I’m also going to do some re-reads this year. I never normally do this, but I think we all need our comfort series, so I’ve changed my rule. I also want to read a few more non-fiction books this year (I think). </div><div><br></div><div>And now on to my favourite subject; classics. I used to pour over classics, but I’ve lost my way with them a bit too recently. So I think I’m going to go for 2 classics a month, so I can spread them out a bit and learn to love them again.</div><div><br></div><div>I hope I manage to stick to my reading goals this year. Do you have any reading goals for 2021?</div><div><br></div><div>Nic</div><div>xx</div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-16963985700421944822021-01-01T15:54:00.000+00:002021-01-01T15:54:04.233+00:00Hello, 2021<img id="id_7858_a44_c58f_bc07" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/oM3WdTYS_A0SZrZT-j_r6TliaZIsxjbtfBmIbQx-bKDPGUi5Ehn0xoQfnOXz_7c" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br> <div>Welcome to 2021, everyone. I’m not going to dwell on the <i>experience </i>that was 2020, because we’ve all just had to live through it. Instead I’m going to focus on the next 12 months. I am cautiously optimistic for this year; we have a vaccine, and personally I’m doing all I can to keep myself and others safe.</div><div><br></div><div>That being said, I am still setting myself resolutions/goals. I find it easier to focus on positive things that way. My list is only small, but I think we can all agree that’s best in 2021. So here is my little list of resolutions/goals:</div><div><ol><li>Do something creative every day.</li><li>Read as many books as I can.</li><li>Save up to move house.</li><li>Exercise/work on my fitness levels.</li><li>Do things that make me happy whenever I can.</li></ol><div>I think that this is an achievable list, nothing has a set time frame, and it’s all just vague enough to work. I’d also like to get the vaccine, but that is kind of out of my hands.</div><div><br></div><div>Happy 2021.</div><div><br></div><div>Nic</div><div>xx</div><div><br></div></div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-65710940319903846352020-11-19T16:50:00.001+00:002020-11-19T16:50:57.065+00:00Getting Ready for the Festive Season<img id="id_b436_a373_7ab7_9049" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/xRGoi92h7XfZu87tiPORayLLI64d8kbw2H0yxsGJHh-hg1faIbEKSEOOyXh6nCc" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br>Now that Halloween and Bonfire Night are well and truly behind us, Sam and I decided to start getting into the festive spirit. <div><br></div><div>We knew that lockdown 2.0 would be a bit more depressing than lockdown 1.0, with the cold and the dark nights and mornings. We did, however, manage to get out a couple of times. We went to Chester for the day back in September, and it was still warm and sunny so we thoroughly enjoyed that. <div><br></div><div>At the start of October we went pumpkin picking and for an afternoon in one of the National Trust parks not too far from us, Tatton Park. So because we couldn’t go abroad, we decided to head to Cornwall for the week. <div><br></div><div>It was actually a nice drive down, with us getting there at 10:30ish. We decided to do the Eden Project on the first day, but we were early, so we went to nearby Charlestown beforehand to spend a couple of hours on the beach. After lunch, we spent an afternoon at the Eden Project, which was lovely, and we tried a strawberry and lime gin, which was even lovelier. We then went to check in at our Air BnB, ate spag bol, and watched Paddington 2.<br><br><img id="id_6fe1_5142_9f2c_ab20" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/xMOjmbjB3MAl3jN0J1dIwU4p8dU8O7OtnHNXJa8vU_UC4aBROczAC5c6qUSjNqc" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_6df1_c7dc_66c1_2fa1" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/a7MztQD4gRNJRD7WruZzaXQ6NSQ5rYrgfYI_lzYoUz4NRPxO3YgWYZgMNCX3U5Q" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_ed5d_3cb_4aec_7b4b" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/sg65otan8C-oqL1MMCyTvne6iT-hf7lhDqT8daVnK3euGSmuA_qKo5fQfOaqfjs" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_ee1c_913c_6d2a_fdeb" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/1MYfU7te7PwA30afk1mqlvUP8fTH6sNAASjpzDIjNLJXcGRf9R1yNyew56LpidI" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><br><br><img id="id_ed91_8a04_7355_a89c" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ZM_2Gl0nc410jF-BaZ3Sh2XkIfBIr2xayfEMIIv-S3YpswXP0QwczArgV18C8Hw" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br>Day two saw us spending the day in St Ives, where we walked along the beach, ate ice cream, played in the sand, and I had an unfortunate incident with a seagull which left me halloumi burger-less. The weather was absolutely stunning though, and a relaxing day at the beach was just what we needed. After our beach day, we had a pub evening meal in Helston, before heading for a walk around Prussia Cove.<br><br><img id="id_2a87_c3ce_ce45_a3b5" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/ouuHxRHsHNLWnO6YOe372GE6QMIi4Snm98-ZFMWhqohEuRzrQq6srfBXDJyE7g0" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_98d2_913e_2855_2d09" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/jjoX6L9wg4H1AjuODZaaPymntqK5ujIb3DNvOidLbjnBKxSP1Uunhm9-74EW750" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_61cf_724b_976e_a989" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/iewpOATsFyWdzepzpctATHwecWvPSEfaaH9wYy0WepSzz6DP5Bp4jHeNxphPX84" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br>Day three was our busiest, with us heading to Land’s End (but we didn’t take a picture with the sign as the line was LONG) in the morning. I have rarely, if ever, read a book where cosplay, cons and fandom are represented, they were excellent nerdy re-telling of some classic fairytales, but it was when I got to the acknowledgments that I felt a lump rising in my throat. Ashley Poston just gets it, I thought to myself as I read it. </div><div><br /></div><div>I often joke about how I am too old for all of my hobbies and interests, but after reading this I had a lightbulb moment. So freaking what if I’m what society would class as a full adult (I’m 32) I still love cosplay and Disney holidays and anime and being a general nerd. I also love red wine and writing and travel, yet I am judged for one set of interests and not the other. I don’t understand why, when people get to a certain age, they have to all of a sudden get more “grown up” interests like yoga and watching soaps (absolutely no disrespect to people who do like these things, they just aren’t for me at all) am I all of a sudden supposed to start being interested in crime novels because I’m no longer a young adult? </div><div><br /></div><div>There is already so much pressure on people to do what we are “supposed” to do in life (have kids, buy a house, get a car etc) that it genuinely baffles me that we aren’t allowed to still have fun once we start full-time work. And don’t even get me started on the judgement police, who look down on anyone who deigns to like something that they deem childish. I’m sick of hiding who I am and the things I like for fear of being judged, so I’m not going to anymore. Not that I really did anyway, but you get the drift.</div><div><br /></div><div>So yeah, I just really miss comic con.</div><div><br /></div><div>Nic</div><div>xx<br /><br /> </div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-26775519922732439892020-08-03T19:00:00.001+01:002020-08-03T19:00:03.310+01:00A Weekend Down South<img id="id_e1e3_b883_d01f_b6d2" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/RCHuE0-fNiEmK9P-uQ3MxJsidgAhabexNeckNIxx0hVHdIBvWCopE3zmsi-4wKM" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_60f2_c562_51fb_4527" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/R17iADpPIBwyrXg8JQf-pkMJSYbJxOISkWQPSXht2otXQ8KKs8o0s9EI6Pvt5Ac" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br><img id="id_c91_d37b_3605_c752" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/NpdotrcP0PhhIyiam6RLsQXUyd1WZXcM3sLAGvBFTiK55ZmNPoZ_hvxpQTFpo24" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 392px; height: auto;"><br><br>A couple of weekends ago, Sam and I decided we needed to get away from Stockport for a few days. We’ve been more than good during lockdown, and with both of us feeling the cabin fever, we decided we would go and spend a weekend down south visiting Sam’s family (who we hadn’t seen since February)<div><br></div><div>We drove down on Wednesday after work, and we made really good time, one perk of the roads being less busy, and I had an excellent nights sleep. We woke up early Thursday morning, and had a tasty breakfast of croissants, before driving to Kent so Sam could pick up his new car. Afterwards, we went for an afternoon in St Albans, where we saw a couple of friends in the park, and had waffles. It was lovely and warm, and when we got back to Sam’s parents, we had our evening meal in the garden and then had a relaxing evening. Friday was another warm day, and we went for lunch at Caffè Nero with Sam’s mum whilst we waited for the dog to have her hair cut. We had an afternoon in the garden, splashing in the pool and playing badminton (not me) before having a bbq in the evening.</div><div><br></div><div>On Saturday we headed into Brighton for a few hours, and despite the wind I was overjoyed to see the sea again. We had fish & chips and doughnuts, wandered around, and I spent too much money in Artbox Cafe. We then headed back to have homemade pizzas, before driving back up North to end the weekend. All in all, it was a lovely few days, and it was great to get away, and we were lucky we did, because we in Greater Manchester aren’t allowed to go and see anyone again now. Melt the butter on a low heat, then add the marshmallows and melt until you have a fluffy white texture.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">2. Add the Rice Krispies and stir until they are all covered in marshmallow. Place on a greased tin (I used butter) and put in the fridge for about half an hour.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">3. Take out of the fridge and cut into Mickey shapes. Melt the chocolate and dip the treats in to it/spread it out over them.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">4. Add the Smarties and put them back in the fridge for around 20 minutes, just to set the chocolate.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">5. Take out of the fridge and enjoy!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And there you have it. I’m pretty sure most people know how to make Rice Krispie cakes anyway, but this is a must for anyone missing the magic.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxGif3IHXKGlF4Xp2oBiSe1A-uslg-N_zbAGZH6qdPZh-FD2BY35Yu9JqHWXXhvRj2yhdDMGSqvdBP7mvRlF2lirgtZPc2FG2o3tGlzaE1kAzRPPfClzRQTsyosmJ6Pp7wbj6kYzz2wPTE/s4032/C95B7222-ABCE-4A3A-9EE8-D3A7EDA4264C.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxGif3IHXKGlF4Xp2oBiSe1A-uslg-N_zbAGZH6qdPZh-FD2BY35Yu9JqHWXXhvRj2yhdDMGSqvdBP7mvRlF2lirgtZPc2FG2o3tGlzaE1kAzRPPfClzRQTsyosmJ6Pp7wbj6kYzz2wPTE/s320/C95B7222-ABCE-4A3A-9EE8-D3A7EDA4264C.jpeg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Nic</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">xx</div>Nic Ooh La Lahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11026712784645932373noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7681350733720120664.post-6735408598103371622020-05-23T17:55:00.000+01:002020-05-23T17:55:56.410+01:00Things I’m Excited to do when all of this Is Over<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPjsY9D8J0HHWBYISuXr2OceLeSo96aqTRlUzacZHvPEW8nPePjFKuv1y-IFzIQi7nD1NyHQTcVAfFJsGt_upHQ9YHx3g0is4qjmxXvkFdgDoYoyXMoZys4Q4qQxc3ccp6e1WqNWLHHK0W/s1600/2C5EC966-F444-4AC7-A7B8-B4F7B9E940AB.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPjsY9D8J0HHWBYISuXr2OceLeSo96aqTRlUzacZHvPEW8nPePjFKuv1y-IFzIQi7nD1NyHQTcVAfFJsGt_upHQ9YHx3g0is4qjmxXvkFdgDoYoyXMoZys4Q4qQxc3ccp6e1WqNWLHHK0W/s320/2C5EC966-F444-4AC7-A7B8-B4F7B9E940AB.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As someone who loves having things to look forward to, this year has been, shall we say, a bit of a disappointment. But because I’m not one to dwell on things, today I thought I’d share a list of some of the things I’m excited to do once this is all over. So I’m just going to jump straight in. Also I know these are all first world problems, and I don’t wish to come across as insensitive, but I just wanted to write this list to remind myself that we can all get through this and go back to doing the things that make us happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Book Disney trips</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, I am planning on booking more than one Disney trip once this is all over, because I think we’ll all need some magic back in our lives after the dreaded virus has gone away.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Eat at a restaurant </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am really looking forward to being able to go and eat at restaurants again. I just really miss desserts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Hug my friends</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the things that is keeping me going on a day to day basis lately is my friends. From chatting via WhatsApp to visiting each other on Animal Crossing, they have been the best, and so I am very excited to be able to give them all a hug again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Go to the library</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Other than my house and my workplace, I think the library is the building I spend the most time in, so I am very much looking forward to it opening again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Travel/ Go to events</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I know I spend a lot of my time at Disney parks, but I do love travelling to other places too. I also love going to various events, so I am excited to finally start doing things again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are more, smaller things that I’m looking forward to doing when this is all over, but these are the main things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOoF4N3kHwzAYNeO8qBNe0BtX7jXPR_GPsa2XBr1DleVfhISSkU1XLfYSRuUaQRZ91AO4drW6OVF5ebyLbFqtEHmAJLN1XBXesqJFWqHODuKVFtcgNIwC9DXA4ln4L6IcRrh5Vp-Iu-QSS/s1600/BD0E928A-023F-4F1C-ABD9-82447A259F23.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOoF4N3kHwzAYNeO8qBNe0BtX7jXPR_GPsa2XBr1DleVfhISSkU1XLfYSRuUaQRZ91AO4drW6OVF5ebyLbFqtEHmAJLN1XBXesqJFWqHODuKVFtcgNIwC9DXA4ln4L6IcRrh5Vp-Iu-QSS/s320/BD0E928A-023F-4F1C-ABD9-82447A259F23.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I like to think of myself as a positive person; I try to stay upbeat as much as I can, and with all that’s going on in the world, I, like everyone else, have found that a struggle some days, but there are things that are making sure I’m staying my usual happy self as much as is possible. So I thought I’d share a couple of these things with you, and I hope that they make you feel a little bit of happiness in this difficult time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Disney+</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We all knew this was going to feature on here, let’s be honest. By far the thing that has kept me the most upbeat is Disney+, even if I do cry at most of the shows on there. Disney has been my happy little bubble almost my whole life, so naturally it’s getting me through lockdown too, and also making me excited for when we can all finally return to the magic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Animal Crossing</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, I know, another one that will shock no one. It’s fair to say that Animal Crossing has been the dominant force in most people’s days recently, and I am no different. I love how relaxing it is, and, as someone who is a huge fan of escapism, this has been perfect for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Reading</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Before I was furloughed (which was only 2 weeks ago) I was in a huge reading slump, the library had closed and I only had 2 physical books to read. Then someone told me about BorrowBox, and now I’m reading more than I have done in ages.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Creativity-ish</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok so I’m also in a bit of a creativity slump. But I am slowly getting there, doing a lot of planning, but I have also loved seeing the ways that everyone else has been being creative. It has been wonderful to see, and I hope it continues long after this is all over.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Twice</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Yes, a kpop group. I have had a strange relationship with music in the past few years. I went through something pretty personal and went off most music because of this, and so discovering something new to me was a breath of fresh air. Don’t get me wrong, I still like all kinds of music, but it has been really nice for me to hear music that, to me, is unashamedly hyper feminine and upbeat. I know it’s not “cool” to like kpop or whatever, but I just like songs that make me feel happy ok?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Gin</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This needs no explanation.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there are some of the things that have kept me feeling happy during lockdown. I hope you are all ok and staying safe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiig8Zvu4wO_4GBT6WSh8TfB4x7b8rJij4XadtXCxFMqKQQ6O-rRHPRchOCSbUVqNLqdZQ-ecfrazv7o6iWCMeo-I5UkzfNXFvlvX7bS6eFpmSpGwxwJex3oHQmA29xIXP3kJ6fE_E1lEX0/s1600/85B28A8D-FC7C-47D3-85D7-9FAC10B56073.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiig8Zvu4wO_4GBT6WSh8TfB4x7b8rJij4XadtXCxFMqKQQ6O-rRHPRchOCSbUVqNLqdZQ-ecfrazv7o6iWCMeo-I5UkzfNXFvlvX7bS6eFpmSpGwxwJex3oHQmA29xIXP3kJ6fE_E1lEX0/s320/85B28A8D-FC7C-47D3-85D7-9FAC10B56073.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well hello there, it’s been a long while since I’ve done this. To be honest, I’ve been feeling very unmotivated lately, and since the C-word hit, I’ve been feeling it even more so, but I’m trying to take baby steps to feeling ok again, so I thought I would make a start by writing something, even if it does come out a bit like word vomit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So how has everyone been spending lockdown? I’m still working, but I have been grateful to have a lot of blossom trees in our local park, which I have been admiring on my allotted outside time. I have a few ideas for blog posts, so I’m putting it out into the universe (or, internet) that I’m going to try and revamp this little space here, because, when I’m feeling motivated, I absolutely love doing it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Keep everything crossed for me, ok?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYg9qOGXRjJgx0vbbAIPWJPJkTxZ7z_LPcWqFkGCvEObZUyZwkwIhfaChcpUBLehSuF40A8mkeyaPa32iAA4ya4jV8_synwyZ0F1a1abcK5fF6u2trmx0u_fIF0d8ihyc14in6athOzgLI/s1600/073E353D-BFD7-4858-8955-16191E5C85B5.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="1200" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYg9qOGXRjJgx0vbbAIPWJPJkTxZ7z_LPcWqFkGCvEObZUyZwkwIhfaChcpUBLehSuF40A8mkeyaPa32iAA4ya4jV8_synwyZ0F1a1abcK5fF6u2trmx0u_fIF0d8ihyc14in6athOzgLI/s320/073E353D-BFD7-4858-8955-16191E5C85B5.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The greatest news ever to grace Netflix was announced in January: the Studio Ghibli films were being added on the 1st of every month for February, March and April seven at a time, and my inner web was elated at the news. So I decided that, every month, I’d rank the seven films, from least to most favourite, and my reasons why. So, without further ado, here is my ranking for the first seven to be added.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>7. Tales from Earthsea</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now, before I start, I don’t think any of these films are boring. However, this one just did not grab me at all. I think it is because it is based on short stories, but the whole thing felt a bit disjointed, and not really about dragons as the Netflix description states.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>6. Only Yesterday</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the things I love about the Ghibli films is their emphasis on the natural world and nature, it makes them feel pastoral and I am here for that, but this one was about not much more than the countryside, and, as a city girl, it wasn’t for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>5. Porco Rosso</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one was Sam’s favourite, and I loved the outfits, the fact Susan Egan was in it, and the general vibe of the story. The only reason it’s in the lower end of this ranking is the characters, I liked them but didn’t love them, if that makes sense?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>4. My Neighbour Totoro</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ok, don’t. I love this film as much as the next gal, and before they started adding the films on Netflix it was in my top three for sure, it’s a classic, and perfectly whimsical. I do love Totoro still, but the two other films that have bumped it down were personally more enjoyable for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>3. Ocean Waves</b></div>

Other than <i>that</i> slap, I absolutely loved this film. I really liked the main characters, the main girl especially, and I love the angle of the story told from an albeit slightly male gaze perspective . I also love the fact it was subbed, as I was expecting all dubs, so that also came as a pleasant surprise.</div>

<b>2. Castle in the Sky</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh, Laputa. This film was absolutely stunning. I loved the myth/urban legend aspect of the story, I thought it was magical, mysterious and wonderful, as someone who finds steampunk fascinating I also adored that, and I enjoyed every single minute of it from start to finish.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b>1. Kiki’s Delivery Service</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If I were to rank every film I’ve ever seen ever, then this film would be in my top 5. It has always, and I suspect will always be my number 1 favourite Ghibli film, it’s just stunning. I have no bad words to say about this film; it’s simply breathtaking. If you haven’t already, go and watch it now, you will not regret it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There we have it; my first of these posts. I’ll do one at the end of March and April. I’d love to know everyone else’s rankings too, so come tell me over on <a href="http://twitter.com/_nicoohlala" title="">Twitter</a>.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Can you believe that this is only the second time I’ve ever had afternoon tea?! Wild!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On Sunday, Sam and I decided to have an early Valentine’s Day treat and go for afternoon tea. So, a couple of weeks ago, I was looking around at places we could go, and I remember my parents talking about having afternoon tea at Cafe Rouge, so I thought I’d look at the menu. I loved it, and booked a table. <span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 12pt;">Then the day of the tea came around, and I decided I was going to wear a flouncy outfit. So, all dressed up and ready to go, we headed to Cafe Rouge. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 12pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 12pt;">When we got there, they told us we could have any hot drink, so we both went for hot chocolate, because I’m never going to turn that offer down, and soon after the tea arrived. I was overjoyed to find croque monseiurs on the sandwich tier, so we munched away on those, had the great scone debate (jam first, always) and then shared the cakes and chocolate mousse.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 12pt;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%; font-size: 12pt;">It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, and at £12.50 each, it was also a nice affordable way to enjoy a little luxury.</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, considering January is literally the worst month ever, I actually don’t think it was too bad this year. It was long, don’t get me wrong, but I actually had a pretty good time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We started off the year with our usual New Years Day walk, and I pretty much read a whole book, first one off the reading challenge done, I was very happy indeed. The first weekend of the new year saw us head out on a rare night out; my dance teacher decided to throw a party, and we attended. It was a very fun night, although my feet were aching afterwards. I also returned to dancing after the longest time off from it. The second weekend was a chilled one; we went for another walk, and I tried a ruby hot chocolate from Costa, aka the best drink ever.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the third weekend of January, we went on a day trip to our favourite northern place; Chester. We always have a really nice day whenever we go to Chester, and this day was no different. I also had another ruby hot chocolate. The fourth weekend was a fun one, as it was Chinese New Year! We went to Chinatown in Manchester, where we are noodles, watched some great performances, bought our own Year of the Rat souvenir, watched the dragon parade, and had a bubble waffle. We finished the month off with a trip to TGI Fridays with Sam’s dad, who was in Manchester at the end of the month for work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u>Monthly Goals: Did I Reach Them?</u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b><u><br /></u></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>I </u>decided at the start of the month that at these new monthly round up posts, I would discuss whether I met my monthly goals or not, so, my goals for January were:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><b>Read 5 books. </b>I just about managed this one</li>
<li><b>Go back to dancing. </b>I absolutely nailed this one</li>
<li><b>Write every day.</b> I didn’t manage this one, and I am so disappointed in myself.</li>
<li><b>Do something fun every weekend. </b>I think I did alright with this one.</li>
<li><b>Re-launch my other blog. </b>I was a bit shaky with this one, so it’s on my February list too.</li>
</ul>
<div>
So there we have it: my January. Hope you enjoyed reading this, I’ll be doing one every month now.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hello all, just a short post today. I was going to write more about my mini goals that I’m doing for each month, but I decided to leave that for my end of the month round up posts, so today I’m talking reading.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Reading is probably my number one hobby, so naturally I like to set myself yearly reading challenges, so I thought I’d pop them on here so you can see them too. I have two challenges so far, though I’ll probably try booktubeathon again. At this present moment though, my two challenges are:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Read 50 books</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Read a book each month where the author’s name begins with the same letter that the month begins with.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So there they are. I’ll update you all through the year to let you know how I’m getting on. On a side note, I’m also really enjoying posting on here again currently, let’s hope this blogging enthusiasm continues, I think it will, as it seems blogs are making a bit of a comeback this year, here’s hoping.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy New Year everyone! I know I’ve not blogged in the longest time, but one of my new year’s resolutions is to write every day, and so I’m making my triumphant return to blogging. I was going to do a whole 2019 in review post, but considering I really fell off the blogging train last year, I thought I’d just show you a snippet of my highlights, which include; </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Getting my hair cut, going to Disneyland Paris three times, going to MCM Expo twice, seeing friends, starting a new job after being made redundant, and going to Walt Disney World did the first time.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ3hwWmwyE-yGDZ1yY7X1WOZ8veUXHtjDDvl6jjW5_IeogZEH5QEheOJoA7xFUmaj3yx02pF3Yj8mFBOlTfXEaqHuZcT0OoIHgDPRVbdFQVxF3C-zVUADsmU9FS8dCSOhX2HBGV94NDV3t/s1600/CA9A6CE2-FC5E-4357-B4B3-105C8F551820.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ3hwWmwyE-yGDZ1yY7X1WOZ8veUXHtjDDvl6jjW5_IeogZEH5QEheOJoA7xFUmaj3yx02pF3Yj8mFBOlTfXEaqHuZcT0OoIHgDPRVbdFQVxF3C-zVUADsmU9FS8dCSOhX2HBGV94NDV3t/s320/CA9A6CE2-FC5E-4357-B4B3-105C8F551820.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that, in a nutshell, was my 2019. But this is a post about 2020, or, the start of the roaring twenties, take two, so I’m here today to talk about that. I have a few big resolutions/goals for the year, and some mini ones, of which I’ll go in to more detail about in my next post, but here are my big resolutions/goals for 2020;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Write every day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Take more care of myself/ indulge in more self-care.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Save up to move house.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Be more comfortable in my body.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Go somewhere new on holiday.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, my goal for every year: live my best life.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have mini goals for each month, and I’ll talk about why I’m doing that in my next post, so I will leave this post here, and say one final happy new year, and remind you all to enjoy the last little bits of the season before we all have to go back to work. Joking, most of us have already been back.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>This post includes gifted items, but all opinions are, as always, my own.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As we all know, the festive season is now upon us, hooray, and this means having a lot of plans for most of us, and lots of plans mean lots of outfits, and different occasions call for different outfits, phew. So, I have come up with a couple of outfit ideas for various plans you may have this festive season, with some help from Femmeluxe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Pub lunch with family members</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Christmas to a lot of people means family time, and nothing says family time like lunch in a nice cosy pub. So, with the idea of cosiness in mind, I decided to go for a<a href="https://femmeluxefinery.co.uk/collections/jumper-dresses" title=""> jumper dress</a> as a nice comfy alternative to all the sparkles and skimpy dresses we often see during the festive period. I know this jumper dress fits a bit on the short side on me, so I would probably wear it with some trousers or thick leggings if I were to wear it for a pub lunch, but I am on the tall side, so that may not be the case for everyone. Another idea for this outfit would be to pair it with your comfiest jeans to wear for a family Christmas morning walk, if that is one of your family Christmas traditions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaEwr0mtGUBZUxP1PexvjQwAJw3uTM4DEENwb7EqiltgAi6v8uFLnz7C7IxZ8CD8dh3-dQGcm4rCWQ4FRaKSJi5wEypJab_hGtdWWcjYJ0FMZheE7hXiO16NX1HkZh1MLfQqwarGUUY8-l/s1600/854F278D-7C0B-410D-8D97-28012C989152.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaEwr0mtGUBZUxP1PexvjQwAJw3uTM4DEENwb7EqiltgAi6v8uFLnz7C7IxZ8CD8dh3-dQGcm4rCWQ4FRaKSJi5wEypJab_hGtdWWcjYJ0FMZheE7hXiO16NX1HkZh1MLfQqwarGUUY8-l/s320/854F278D-7C0B-410D-8D97-28012C989152.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<b>Christmas Day/ New Year’s Eve</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m a big fan of dressing up for Christmas Day, it makes the day feel extra special to me, and I’m sure many people feel the same, so a <a href="https://femmeluxefinery.co.uk/collections/glitter-dresses" title="">sparkly minidress</a> is perfect for dressing up. I paired it here with a <a href="https://femmeluxefinery.co.uk/collections/cropped-jumpers" title="">cropped jumper,</a> because, let’s face it, it’s December so it’s not exactly warm, and you still have to look respectable for your grandparents coming for Christmas Dinner. I am also not the most body confident of people, so the addition of a jumper also helps me not feel as self-conscious. If you remove the jumper though, this dress would also be absolutely perfect for dancing the night away on New Year’s Eve, because if you can’t dress as a disco ball on New Year’s Eve, then when can you?</div>

<b>Work Christmas Party/ Meal</b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I’ve saved the second most important Christmas outfit for last: the work Christmas do outfit. Even though I do love a bit of colour, sometimes you can’t beat a classic monochrome combination, and, for a work Christmas night out, this <a href="https://femmeluxefinery.co.uk/collections/long-sleeve-tops" title="">long sleeved mesh sleeve top</a> is perfect. The mesh sleeves are a great balance between being fun and being practical, because you don’t want to embarrass yourself too much in front of your boss now, do you? Here I paired it with some black leather look trousers, which are great for going out out, and the fabric clash of the mesh and the leather works so well together, and wearing something high waisted with a cropped top is always a winner in my opinion. This outfit would also work for a meal, if that’s what your work like to do for their Christmas do, as well as for a good old night out. </div>

I hope these outfits have given you some inspiration for something you may want to wear for festive plans you may have. Let me know some of your festive plans, I love hearing about what others do with their Christmases, so any fun plans you have, tell me! I have a couple of Christmas parties to go to, and a couple of meals too, so I’ll have to come up with a few festive things to wear for all my plans too. Luckily, I love planning outfits for things, so I’ll be happy doing that.</div>

Last weekend, myself and Sam (and a few of his friends) had our first festive weekend of the year. We went to Manchester Christmas Markets for the first of many times, and on Sunday, we put up our Christmas tree and decorated the flat. It was the perfect way to start getting into the Christmas spirit. I think I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking for now, but expect plenty more Christmas content.</div>
