Packing for a City Break

In case you didn't already know, I'm going to Paris tomorrow. I'm so excited. I like to be organised, so I've packed my hand luggage already. But, I was on one of the Twitter chats last week, and we were talking packing. What really surprised me about this chat is that there were countless people who said they hated packing and they always took too much and so on, and it got me thinking, 'hey, I could write a blog post about packing light, seeing as I'm accustomed to going on hand luggage only holidays', so that's exactly what I'm going to do here.

1. Take only what you need.
I know you might not be in the mood to wear certain things on certain days, but it isn't practical to take your whole wardrobe on a city break. What I do is take as many outfits as days that I am going, plus one spare. The spare one is usually a dress that can just be thrown on.

2. Roll everything.
If you still can't narrow it down to a few outfits, then rolling is definitely your best friend. You can save so much space by doing it, so you can take more.

3. Plan, plan, plan.
Plan your outfits to the very last item, including accessories. That way, you probably won't over pack.

4. Don't take too many shoes.
Believe me, if you're only taking hand luggage, you don't want to be lugging around loads of shoes with you. Take two pairs tops. I know, I know. Trust me, your shoulders will thank me.

And finally...

5. Don't stress too much.
Don't worry too much about packing, just enjoy your holiday.
