What I Read: April and May

Can you believe that I haven’t done one of these posts since March?! I actually have been really bad at reading in these past two months, having only finished six books in the two months. Terrible by my usual standards, but I’ve read some, so I’ll detail them here.

The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens
I finally finished this book back in April, it honestly took me so long, the longest any Dickens book has ever taken me! It was a funny book, but not one of my favourite Dickens books I’ve ever read.
Rating: 3/5

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
I loved this book. I am a huge fan of dystopia, and this book was a great one, and one of the most interesting books I’ve ever read. I was hooked and fully lost in the world that Huxley created.
Rating: 4/5

Batman Hush by Jeph Loeb
The token graphic novel of this (two) month’s post is Batman Hush, a fantastic story with an amazing plot twist that was also wonderfully illustrated.
Rating: 4/5

Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews
I read this book on two plane journeys in April, and, whilst I sort of enjoyed it, I did feel it dragged on a bit, and the story could’ve been a bit shorter.
Rating: 3/5

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
This book was absolutely fantastic! It was honestly so magical and I never ever wanted it to end. Reading the whole book had an other worldly feel, and I adored the fact that the book was set out as a form of diary entries; each chapter is a block of time, so the reader is fully immersed in the world of the circus. Did I also mention that it is magical? Definitely, definitely read this book.
Rating: 5/5

Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas
The latest book in the Throne of Glass series is proof that this series is getting progressively better as it goes on. I was hooked on every word, and I loved it. I’m so glad that these books were recommended to me by a few people on Twitter, because I love them.
Rating 5/5

I want to get back on the ball with reading more again, so if you have any book recommendations please send them to me.
