Codename Sailor V Part Two

So I finally got around to reading part two of the Codename Sailor V manga, and I loved it. The first part led perfectly on to this part, and, for such a short series, I felt that the story was well told and well rounded-off. This part of the manga sees Minako take on various enemies, before realising what her true destiny is and awakening as a Sailor Senshi. Believe me, that makes sense if you are familiar with Sailor Moon.

I love how they have given Minako a back story, as I often felt that in the original Sailor Moon series, because she came into it relatively late, that she was important and had another story to tell. This series serves as a perfect prequel to Sailor Moon, and a perfect lead up to where Minako comes into the Sailor Moon story. I don't want to say too much about the plot as I don't want to spoil it, but if you like wonderful illustrations and a fun story, then this manga is one I'd highly recommend.

Codename: Sailor V Review

After reading and loving the Sailor Moon manga, I knew I wanted to read more. I have heard there are some other Sailor Moon themed manga, whether they're specials or spinoffs, and I knew that Codename Sailor V was one of them. So I kept it at the back of my mind to search for, and I saw it as soon as I bought it. I was already reading a book at the time when I bought it, so I had to wait to read it, but, when I got to it, I read it in one sitting.

Sailor Venus is my favourite of the Sailor Senshi, so, naturally, I absolutely loved this story. It is a similar story format to Sailor Moon, in that, it is about Minako finding out she is a guardian and then fighting enemies. The thing I loved most about giving Minako this backstory is that you get to find out what she had been doing at the time when the other guardians (Mercury, Mars and Jupiter) were helping Sailor Moon, as Venus doesn't come in to Sailor Moon until quite late on, so it is nice to see what she was doing during her search.

It is a two-part story, and I have only read part one, but there are hints to the future story already. In one of the stories, Minako sees Usagi at the same shopping district, which hints to the future for Minako, and Artemis also tells her that she has a bigger mission than the ones she is completing in the books, which is also an allusion to Sailor Moon.

I loved this manga, as I love how Minako has been given so much depth and backstory as a character, and I can't wait to get part two at the weekend.
