Princess Aurora Make It Blue Cosplay

Yesterday I showed you my pink Aurora cosplay, and today it's the turn of my blue Aurora cosplay. I made this dress second, when I ended up being able to go to both days of LSCC, and this is what I wore on the second day. Although I do love the pink dress (I even have a phone case to prove it) I do prefer the colours of this one so much more. The contrasts look better on the blue dress, and if I ever remake an Aurora dress, this will be the one I choose to do.

I made the dress the same way as I made the pink one: top first, then attached the skirt and the peplum, and the white section and the sleeves are separate. My only snag with these cosplays is the fact the crown is the wrong colour, and I don't have the necklace. I'll work on that for next time. As always, you can head over to my cosplay page for more, and for my next planned cosplays (I ordered the material for my next one today and I am very excited for it to arrive.)

Princess Aurora Make It Pink Cosplay

Note to self: I need to work on my princess poses.

Ok so here is my first of the two Aurora cosplays I made for LSCC. I wanted to have some photos of just the cosplay too, as well as the photos from LSCC, so I made Lee take some when we got back on Monday, and this is the first one. Aurora has always been my favourite princess (apart from when I went through my Pocahontas phase when I saw it at the cinema-but that's another story for another time) so when I decided I wanted to do cosplay, she was the first character I thought of doing. I am a huge fan of the pink dress (sorry blue camp) so I decided I was going to make it for LSCC. When we were only going for one day this was perfect, and then it turned out we could go for both days, and so I also made the blue one (photos of that coming real soon).

I will admit I didn't use a pattern for this, as that isn't how I was taught to make garments, so I just measured it on myself.  First I did the top section (I can't wear corsets, just fyi) and then the skirt. I wanted the skirt to flare out but not too much, as I didn't have the time to get an underskirt too, so I just wore a structured midi skirt underneath, so I cut the skirt pieces a bit bigger so they'd do that. I then attached that to the top and added the peplum. The white bit and the sleeves are a completely separate section altogether, which I just put on over the top of the dress. I absolutely loved making this costume, and I'm already itching to make my next one. Check out my cosplay page for more photos.

My Favourite Disney Bloggers/Vloggers 3: Amy from Cocktails in Teacups

I've not done an instalment of this little series for ages, bad Nicola. But here it is, back again. This instalment is focusing on the actual person I think of when I think Disney blogger, and that's Amy. Amy is a through and through Disney blogger, and you can see in all of her posts that Disney is a huge part of her life. For the whole time I've been following Amy's blog, through its evolution and rebrand, her passion for Disney has shone through. For that, and the fact that Amy, along with her downright adorable daughter LM, absolutely have the time of their lives whilst on a Disney holiday, I'd highly recommend going over to her blog and her Instagram account (where she shares her daughters adventures).

LSCC

I can't believe I've been absent from here for a week, sorry about that, I was in a cosplay whirl. So I just got back from one of my favourite weekends in a long long time, at the London Super Comic Convention. It was my first con, and my first time cosplaying out in public, and it was amazing! There were some beautiful and striking costumes on show, and everyone was in full support of each others cosplays, I can't believe I never tried cosplay/went to a convention sooner, I had so much fun.

On the first day (Saturday) I was in my pink Aurora costume, and within minutes of walking in the room, a lovely girl dressed as Rapunzel was asking me to have a photo with her and complimenting my costume, and the positivity continued for the whole weekend, something which happens all the more rarely these days. On Sunday I dressed as blue Aurora, and, despite my sleeve snapping off right at the start of the day, I still had such a wonderful time. I had photos with so many lovely cosplayers, including the ever talented Megan and her friend Shannon, and everyone was so wonderful.

I'm already excited for the next comic con, and I've already started planning my next cosplays. You can see more photos on my cosplay page, and, if you're a cosplayer too, leave me your pages and I'll be sure to follow them. Can't wait until the next con now.

How to do Disneyland Paris in One Day

If you ask most Disney holiday fans, they'd tell you that they go to Disneyland Paris for a few days at a time. I, however, can only ever get Lee to go for one day at a time, so I'm sort of becoming a little bit of a pro at managing to do (most of) the things I want to do in one day. With that in mind, I thought I'd share with you all a couple of tips I've picked up on this subject. So here we go:

1. Get there early (but not at bang on park opening time) leave late
This first tip is a bit of a no brainer, but getting there early and leaving late really is the only way to do a Disney park. I've added in but not at park opening time for one simple fact: the queue is shorter. I find that getting there at quarter past ten reduces your queue time to get in the park.

2. Prioritise.
Pick which rides you want to go on the most, and make it a priority to go on those ones over the others, you'll never get on everything in one day, so this is key.

3. Get in the Big Thunder Mountain queue at about 4pm.
This is a very specific tip, but it definitely works. Big Thunder is one of the (if not the) most popular ride at Disneyland Paris, so it always has the longest queues. I have found that the time that has the shortest queue is around 4ish, as people needlessly reserve their spots for Magic on Parade this early. Last October (in the school holidays) we got in the queue at 4:15, we were off the ride and on Main Street within an hour.

4. Eat at quick service places.
This is a simple one, to save time, eat at quick service places in the day, then go to a restaurant after Dreams.

5. Pick whether you want to do more rides or character meets.
You won't be able to do loads of both, so you need to prioritise again. You can, however, compromise a bit and fit in bits of both.

6. Go on some rides at around 7/8pm.
I find that 7ish is the best time to go on rides, as most people are going for food before Dreams, so the queues are shorter.

7. You don't need to save your place for the shows/parades that far ahead.
I've touched on this a little in one of my last tips, but you really don't need to save your place for that long, because people will just push in front of you anyway. I usually save a place about 15 minutes before, and that's always been fine for me.

8. Do your shopping after Dreams
Like with eating, I would always save Disney Village shopping until after Dreams. Most of the shops and restaurants stay open until late anyway so you have plenty of chance.

9. Use Fastpasses.
I've never actually done this so I'm not sure how much of a time saver it is, but most people swear by them so I'd try and get at least one. I'd probably try this in the studios park because I don't spend as much time in there anyway.

10. Don't get overwhelmed and just enjoy yourself.
This is my most important tip: just enjoy yourself. You can always go back again to enjoy the parks more, Paris is so easy to get to from the UK and you can get Disney tickets relatively cheap for a day.So just enjoy your day, and when you're done, start figuring out when you can go back again.

My Favourite Disney Cosplayers

With LSCC only just over a week away, I am starting to get excited about wearing my first proper cosplays out and about. In celebration of that, I am going to be sharing with you my favourite Disney cosplayers. (I'm not going to include Traci Hines in this because everyone knows she is the undisputed queen of Disney cosplay.)

I am going to start with my absolute favourite cosplayer, and the girl who made me want to cosplay: Briar Rose Cosplay. Her cosplays are absolutely stunning, and I get inspired by her creations every day.

This girl is quite possibly the most dedicated cosplayer I have ever seen. She is always making absolutely beautiful costumes, and she puts so much effort in to every single costume to make them extremely screen accurate. I always look forward to seeing what she's doing next, and she always work so hard.

Cat is someone who I found on Instagram first, and I absolutely adore her cosplays. She pays such attention to detail and her cosplays are always really well thought out and planned.

Who are your favourite Disney cosplayers? Or are you one yourself? You can follow my cosplay journey here, and I look forward to finding plenty more cosplayers to admire.

Disney's Silver Era Tag

I'm back with another instalment of Amy's Disney eras tag, I had to miss out the wartime/package era because I hadn't seen any of the films, they're now at the top of my must watch list. You can see my golden era tag here. Anyway, today it's the turn of the silver era, which comprises of: Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, 101 Dalmatians, the Sword in the Stone and the Jungle book.

1. Any unseen films?
No, I have seen all of these films many, many times. I actually watched Sword in the Stone yesterday.

2. What is your favourite film of this era?
I love absolutely all of these films (it might even be my favourite era) but there is a clear answer to this one: Sleeping Beauty. It's actually my favourite Disney film; the colours are beautiful, it features ballet music, and it's just breathtaking. I love it so much.

3. What is your least favourite film of this era?
This is a really really hard question because I love this era, but I'm going to have to say the Jungle Book.

4. Who is your favourite main character?
Princess Aurora, forever.

5. Who is your favourite villain?
Maleficent.

6. Who is your favourite sidekick?
Does Tinkerbell count? If so, Tinkerbell, if not, nana.

7. What is your favourite song?
Omg this one is so hard! I'm going to say three because I just can't choose. Once Upon A Dream, You Can Fly and Golden Afternoon.

8. What do you consider to be the most underrated film of the era?
Probably 101 Dalmatians.

9. What is your favourite thing about this era?
That all the films are so amazing, they are the best ones.

10. What did you least enjoy about this era?
That there was no more Walt after this era.

Simple Sunday Staples

Coat, Skirt- Topshop / Jumper- New Look

My first outfit post in a long time! The weather so far this year has been pretty poor, I don't think there was a point last week when it wasn't raining, so outfit posts have been the last thing on my mind really (the first thing has been trying to stay warm) but today was an ok day- it was still pretty cold, but at least it wasn't raining (it is now.)

This outfit is nothing groundbreaking, and, as ever with my outfits, you've seen all the items before, but what day says comfy, simple outfits better than Sunday? I hope I can go back to regular outfit posting soon, I miss warm days when I can do this.
