For Christmas, I received a copy of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Screenplay, and I was eager to get started on it. I watched the film over the New Year period, and, the day after I'd finished the film, I started reading the screenplay. As the film was fresh in my mind, I instantly imagined all of the film actors saying the dialogue, and I loved it. The story flows perfectly, and you can read it both as a script and as a novel. The fact that I read the whole thing over two dinner hours really says something, even for me. (I am a fast reader)
The book is actually laid out like a script too, which I know is a bit of an obvious thing to say, but even the scene settings and stage directions (?) are included, which was a wonderful addition. There is also a glossary of film lingo at the back in case anyone gets confused while reading it.
Lastly, I want to talk about the design of the book. The art on the cover is just downright beautiful, and this art continues into gorgeous little illustrations at the start of each scene.
Overall, I would highly recommend this book, it is a wonderful read and would look perfect on any bookshelf. Plus, you get to imagine Eddie Redmayne when you're reading it, which is just delightful.
