The Day I Cosplayed as Carol Danvers, or, MCM Expo October 2019

The end of October saw myself and Sam head back down to London for MCM, this time opting to go to con on the Saturday. It quickly became apparent that that wasn’t our best idea, as the con was heaving. I’d been on a Saturday before, but, because of the rain, people weren’t spending as much time outside, so it seemed even more jam packed than usual. Nevertheless, we had a great day, and managed to control ourselves with spending this time round too.

Now on to our cosplays. Sam opted to attend as Ash from Pokemon again, and another Pokemon cosplayer had a little photo shoot with him which was amazing and so cute. I had a tougher time choosing who to cosplay, going back and forth between ideas for weeks on end. I eventually decided on Carol Danvers, and let me tell you, it was the most comfortable cosplay I have ever worn. I was neither too hot nor too cold, and I didn’t feel too self conscious walking around in a jumpsuit all day either. We also attended the MCU meet which was great fun, and a lovely way to end the day.

A Day In London

During my week off, I went on a little solo day trip to London. The purpose of my trip was to see Angels in America (review coming very soon, when I can manage to muster up the words to describe it) but I thought that I'd spend a day in London in the lead up to the play.

I arrived in London at half past one and decided, as it was a lovely day, that I would walk down to the Southbank to try and find the National Theatre, and on the way I walked past Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral, which ended up being a nice surprise. When I got to the Thames, I walked along there, saw the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, and then walked along the river to find the theatre so I'd have my bearings for the evening. On the way I saw a book market, which I spent far too long browsing at, and then I saw that there was a DC Lego exhibition nearby, however, it was super busy so I decided to head to my hotel to freshen up. 

I stayed in a little hotel in Earl's Court, which only cost me £45 for the night, and it was very easy to get to from the theatre. After I'd freshened up, I headed back to the Southbank for some food. I actually decided to eat at the theatre cafe, which actually ended up being very cheap and very tasty. Then I waited at the stage door for a bit, and saw some of the cast of the play, and then went to get my ticket and watch the play, which was spectacular. After the play, I headed back to my hotel after some more waiting at the stage door, for a well needed sleep before my journey home the next morning.

London Film and Comic Con 2017

On Sunday just gone, me and Lee attended our second comicon of the year (and Lee's favourite) London Film and Comic Con. It is held annually at the Olympia, a enue which is nice and near to where we normally stay in London, so we decided to walk to the venue, as it was a warm, sunny day. I cosplayed as Belle, and one of the first people we saw in the con was a fellow Belle cosplayer. We also saw some Batman cosplayers, who we had some photos with, before starting to head round the stalls.

I love the stalls at LFCC, because there are a lot that focus on films and TV, which made for a very happy Nic and Lee, as we enjoy a good film. I ended up buying some prints (Fantastic Beasts and, erm, Hacksaw Ridge (gotta get that Garfield merch)) and Lee got some Twin Peaks prints too, so we left that stall very glad. After some more wandering around the stalls (and a quick lunch at Pizza Express, man I wish they had that in the ExCel) we went upstairs to get a glimpse at some of the famous faces appearing at the event. Sadly, I didn't see anyone I got too excited about, but maybe next year.

I always find comicon goes far too fast, and now I just have to sit and wait patiently for the next one now.

Disney's Cinderella Exhibition

Warning: this is a photo heavy post.

I bet you all thought I didn't have another Cinderella post up my sleeves, didn't you? Well, I do. Last Tuesday, after what felt like years and years of waiting (it was only about two weeks), Lee and I went to London for the day to see the Cinderella exhibition in Leicester Square. The exhibition was filled with costumes and props from the live action film, and it was lovely. For a relatively small exhibition space, they did a really good job, filling the rooms with props and really utilising the space. Along with the props and costumes from the new film, there was also a room with memorabilia and original illustrations from the animated Cinderella, which was an added treat.

I don't want to waffle on through this post, so I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking.

If you've not seen the new film yet, hopefully seeing these pictures will inspire you to, it's a visual masterpiece, and I can't wait to see it again when it comes out on DVD.

London's Calling

First up, sorry about the sheer amount of photos in this post, I tried to narrow it down as much as I could.

Me and Lee just got back today from two fabulous days in London. We decided to book it as a last minute quick trip because we've decided we want to do more this year, and so we went. We got a coach (!) at 8:40 on Monday morning and by 1:30, we were exploring the city. We went to all the typical touristy places, but, when you're not from London you're not used to seeing them in real life, so you do tend to go to them all. Or I do anyway. On Monday evening we met my friend Sophie for a coffee, and got some food before settling in for the night.

On Tuesday we were up early again to do some more exploring (we wanted to pack in as much as possible), and we went in the Tate Modern and the National Gallery. We also went to King's Cross station so I could have my photo taken at Platform 9 3/4, which was amazing! We saw Laduree and the Hummingbird Bakery (at which I shouted "look Lee, I've got their cookbooks!) and even got photos taken with Yoda.

All in all it was a wonderful two days and I'm already looking forward to the next mini break we go on.
