Harry Potter Book Day

On Sunday, there was a Harry Potter Book Day event at Stockport Art Gallery, which me and my sister decided to pop along to, and it turned out to be a lovely way to spend a morning.

Each Hogwarts house had its own area in the gallery, with activities themed to each house. The Hufflepuff area was a fantastic beasts themed area, the Gryffindor area was a decorate your own dragon egg, Ravenclaw had a spell writing area and a Ministry of Magic letter area, and Slytherin had a potions class. There were also reading sessions from the Harry Potter books and Quidditch practice. It ended up being a nice way to start my week off, and I love anything Harry Potter themed so it was a winner for me.

My Hogwarts Story

1. Are you pure-blood, half-blood or muggle born?

I think I would probably be half-blood. Or pure-blood. Yeah, actually, pure-blood.

2. Which wand chose you? What is it made of?

My wand chose me on Pottermore, it's laurel wood with a unicorn core, 14 and a quarter inch, and a slightly springy flexibility.

3. Did you take an owl, cat or toad with you?

100% took a cat.

4. What house did the sorting hat place you in?

Slytherin.

5. What house did you want to be in?

I'm glad I got Slytherin, but I would've also liked to have been in Ravenclaw.

6. What are your favourite and least favourite lessons?

My favourite is a toss-up between charms and transfiguration, and my least favourite is divination.

7. The form your Patronus takes is...

I think a gazelle or a deer. I think these animals have a youthful spirit, much like myself. Plus, y'know, the whole being a dancer thing.

8. When confronted with a Boggart, what form does it take? 

ET.

9. Do you partake in any sports or magical hobbies?

Definitely not Quidditch, maybe Flitwick's orchestra or choir.

10. Where do you spend your free time?

Probably in the library, or Hogsmeade.

11. You are most likely to get detention for what?

I would never get detention.

12. What career would you like after Hogwarts?

I would like to be a teacher, at either Hogwarts or Beaxbatons.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Review

Right, this book came out almost two weeks ago now, so I think I've left people enough time to read it before posting my review.

Literally everyone has been waiting years for JK Rowling to return with another Harry Potter story, and when the Cursed Child was announced, I eagerly booked tickets for the play. Then, it was announced that the play's script would be released, which, although this disappointed a few people, excited me. I love reading plays, so I headed down to preorder the script, counting down the days until release date.

I read this script in one evening, granted, I do read plays very quickly (I read Pygmalion in about an hour) but I just could not put this down. There were so many twists in both parts of the play, and I was gobsmacked numerous times. I've read some reviews saying the older characters acted a bit out of character in the play, but I think each character was perfectly adapted and updated; Harry especially was characterised exactly as I would have imagined him in the story.  My favourite new character was absolutely Scorpius, his character had so much depth and I am excited to see the young actor bring him to life. I am undecided as to how I feel about Albus Severus.

The story was something else I also loved, though I did find the attempt to bring back Cedric a bit random, like, I understand why they wanted to do it, but I just thought it was a bit random. I really, really loved the story though, and considering JK didn't write the script, it captured the essence of her writing wonderfully, and think it will work perfectly as a play as opposed to a film. The bit I am most excited to see in the play is the magic.

Overall, I obviously loved this play, and it has made me eager for November to hurry up so I can go and experience this play in the medium it was made for.

First of all, how amazing is this Felix Felicis necklace? I am a massive Harry Potter fan, I'm actually re reading the books at the moment (I'm up to Goblet of Fire, in case you were wondering), and, to cheer myself up one day at the start of the month, I decided to treat myself to it. I love how it has a little sorting hat, I'm going to try and teach it to say Slytherin. I'm fully aware it's a necklace, don't worry, muggles. Anyway, I promise this is the last outfit from Lee's back garden, I actually took some somewhere else for my next outfit post.

I decided to pair the necklace with something that almost looks a bit uniform-y, with the dress and collar. No? Just me? I can definitely imagine Hermione wearing this in her downtime, when it was all homework, homework, homework. That girl is super cool. I got this dress back when everyone was buying the grey midi ones from Topshop, I had a voucher, and this New Look one was a far better price. It has seen me through a couple of Summers now, and it's still going strong. Now, back to the world of Hogwarts I go.

My Harry Potter Collection

I told you there were going to be posts other than just me in clothes coming up over here, and this is the first one. Three of my favourite things in life are Paris, Harry Potter and Disney, and if you walk in to my room and see my stuff, you'd know straight away. So I thought I'd show you my collections of these three themes that run through my life, and the first is the best (imo) book series, and pretty darn good film series too, ever: Harry Potter.

So, I have on my walls:

A signed promo poster of Tom Felton.

Both of these items were bought for me as Secret Santas, even my friends know. 

Continuing with the Tom Felton loving, I also have a Draco figurine.

A remembrall (that lights up)

3D glasses from when the Deathly Hallows Part 2 came out. The 3D isn't even that good in it, we just wanted Harry P shaped glasses.
